In this go-go, high-intensity, succeed-at-all costs world, mistakes can be frowned upon. Mistakes are bad, right? The stigma of failures is something to be avoided, right?
Not always.
Sometimes, mistakes can be our best friend.
Everyone in America has enjoyed Toll House Cookies.
They were a mistake.
Yes, its true.
The iconic French dessert, Tart Tatin, was the result of a nun stumbling, and dumping the apple pie she was serving her Mother Superior. Clearly a savvy thinker, she quickly scooped up the pastry and plopped it onto a platter and served it. If she were alive today, she'd be making a 6-figure salary as a Marketing Executive.
This week, I made a mistake at work. Prepping a recipe for "Molasses Wafers", panning and baking them, I thought I had a winner. Once I opened the oven doors, I realized all I had was a mess.
I made some corrections and adjustments.
You're welcome!
Molasses Brownies
4 sticks butter, melted and cooled
1 1/2 T. ginger
3 c. white sugar
3/4- 1 c. molasses
6 eggs, beaten
7 c. flour (gluten-free Cup 4 Cup can be substituted)
1 tsp salt
2 T. Baking soda
1 T. cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350. Mix together the butter, ginger, sugar, molasses and eggs. Mix well. Add the flour, salt, soda and cinnamon. You will probably need an electric mixer for this. Spray a medium sized sheet pan with pan spray and spread until flat. You may need to use your hands for this, the dough will be stiff and sticky. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until golden and set. Enjoy!
